Energy storage is the next step in energy transition. After the revolution of solar panels, the power grid is now running up against its limits, making the call for energy storage ever louder. Energy storage can be done using large storage batteries or a smaller home battery.
This is also known as a “house battery,” the best known being the Tesla Powerwall. This battery can be used for energy storage for a small office or business with solar panels. By storing some of the solar energy produced during the day, you can use it at night. Storage for a home battery is between 5 and 100 kWh. For now, MisterGreen-Energy is focusing on the larger home battery of 100 kWh.
MisterGreen-Energy is clearly not focused on large-scale energy storage. Such a battery is called a “container battery” and is the size of a half or whole shipping container. Intended to accommodate large-scale energy production such as at large wind or solar farms. Typically, these batteries are not used for daytime storage but particularly for peakshaving applications. For event or construction sites only, these container batteries can come in handy to provide energy at locations without a grid connection for extended periods of time.
